Irish Skib or Ciseog

A traditional Irish Heritage basket, the skib was traditionally used to strain and serve the potatoes. It was made to suit the size of family who all sat around it to eat. Then rinsed and hung beside the fireplace to dry becoming an integral part of the house and home. This design is the Joyce Country version, now used as a table centre or a stunning wall hanging.
