Based in Belfast, Helen Faulkner is a potter making tableware with a rich red earthenware clay combined with colourful glazes. Her focus is on designing tableware with the end user in mind. Not only should it look good but also it must do its job well.
Helen initially studied general crafts in England before settling into ceramics. After spending time at the International Ceramics Centre in Hungary she was advised to apply to the Pottery Skills Course based in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. Afterwards, she remained in Thomastown working with several potters.
Fit for purpose
In 2015 Helen returned to Northern Ireland and opened her own pottery studio in an old textiles mill in East Belfast.
