About Magee 1886

Magee was established in 1866 by John Magee, as a small drapers shop in Donegal, Ireland, buying and selling hand-woven tweeds. In 1900 Robert Temple bought the business and today the 4th and 5th generation Temple family are at the helm – Lynn, Charlotte, Rosy and Paddy.

Magee are still designing and weaving luxury fabrics in Donegal with the colours and designs inspired by the ever-changing land and seascapes surrounding Donegal. These fabrics are internationally renowned and used in the Magee 1866 men’s, women’s and home collections.

At the centre of Magee 1866 is the weaving mill in Donegal Town, where the highly skilled team continue to design and weave luxury fabrics. Magee's textile designers develop colourful, textured fabrics specialising in using natural fibre yarns – wool, alpaca, cashmere, Irish linen, silk and cottons. The experienced mill team are masters of the complex process of making fabric which involves warping, weaving, mending, washing and finishing.
