'Duilleoga na hÉireann' (Leaves of Ireland)

Each leaf design is made up of Irish words all related to its tree in folklore and Celtic mythology. Included are: Alder, Birch, Hawthorn, Elder, Pine, Oak, Blackthorn, Ash, and Hazel.

Beside each leaf (or pinecone!) there is the corresponding Ogham rune. Ogham is an ancient Irish alphabet, thought to have been created in the 4th century. All that remains of it are what is carved on a multitude of Ogham stones, which can be found in Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, South-West England and across the South of Ireland. The Ogham alphabet is sometimes called the Tree Alphabet, because up to 8 of the letters correspond to tree names, and later in medieval times all of the letters were ascribed to trees. But originally it was only 8, and the rest of the letters have various other meanings.

Mireog screen-print their designs in their studio in Co. Waterford using water-based inks, onto 100% organic cotton Earth-Positive t-shirts. These are heat cured and can be washed at 40 degrees.
