Designer Natalie B Coleman is one of Ireland's most creative and daring fashion designers.  For Autumn Winter 2018, Natalie draws on her ideas of womanhood and sisterhood to produce a statement-making luxury fashion collection that is bold and brave. The designer's collection is currently on sale as part of Scéal at the Kilkenny Shop on Nassau Street in Dublin.

The designer's Guaranteed to Bleed collection includes woollen and jersey t-shirts which are either screen printed or embroidered with black or red lettering, including the 'Sisters' logo, pictured here. Each item is limited edition and painstakingly made by hand in Natalie's studio in Dublin, with the embroidery alone on some of the styles taking some 10 hours to complete.

Natalie is passionate about using Irish fabrics as much as possible in her collections and over the years has worked with mills such as Molloy & Sons in Co. Donegal to create bespoke fabrics for her designs.

For this season, Natalie has employed Irish linens made by John England in Northern Ireland and specially-produced herringbone tweeds with a lurex thread running through them by Molloy & Sons. The silk taffeta used in her exquisite dresses is from James Hare in England.

Everything in the collection is made in Ireland - from the designing and pattern-cutting, to the garment assembly, printing and embellishment with embroidery or the jet black beads used in the collection this season. Nothing is left to chance as Natalie keeps the production limited to small numbers and oversees the production of every single piece.

Working in such a hands-on fashion allows Natalie to keep quality control at the forefront of her label but it's also due to her method of designing and working, as she says that she "designs laterally" - often not having a fully formed idea at the beginning of production but allowing the process itself to contribute to the end result.

Natalie's clothes have been worn by celebrities such as television presenters Angela Scanlon and Laura Whitmore. Angelababy, the Chinese actor, singer and social media star has caused a stir in her designs which have also featured in many magazines and fashion editorials both in Ireland and abroad including Irish Country Magazine, The Sunday Business Post, The Irish Times, Grazia and The New York Times.

Natalie says that she is delighted to bring her collection to what is potentially a new audience and customer for her as part of Scéal at Kilkenny. "I sell a lot of my pieces to customers abroad so I'm looking forward to connecting with a new local and international audience," she says. "It is a real honour to have been selected to showcase my Autumn Winter 2018 collection Guaranteed to Bleed as part of Scéal at Kilkenny. It is such an iconic store and one with an incredible reputation for supporting Irish design."
