During July, Design Ireland jewellery designer Melissa Curry launched her new jewellery collection, PÓG, on Aer Lingus flights. The new collection is a nod to the Irish language as well as the traditional Claddagh jewellery of Ireland, but brings a fresh take by featuring the Irish word for “kiss” or “póg” on her range of pendants, bracelets and rings.

As July is usually seen as the height of the summer holidays in Ireland, we took a look at some of the best destinations for Irish craft and design around the country including shops with a focus on Irish products such as The Cat and The Moon in Sligo owned by Design Ireland jewellery designer Martina Hamilton.

We also highlighted the shop and open workshop at Studio Donegal in Kilcar, open workshops and studios countrywide such as those of Criostal na Rinne and Jerpoint Glass, and classes for novices such as those run by Garrett Mallon at the Carlingford Design House.

We also provided our suggestions for some of the most beautiful housewarming gifts available from our talented designers and expert brands countrywide including Colin Harris, Jando, Irish Linen House, McNutt and karoArt.
