In December we featured the stunning Celestial Sphere rings by HELENA MALONE which are inspired by the signs of the zodiac and have been stocked in the Marvel Room at Brown Thomas in the run up to Christmas. The rings are made using a delicate process in freshwater pearl and nine carat gold at Helena's Dublin studio.

The Gifted Fair at the RDS took place at the beginning of the month with a solid representation of Design Ireland makers and designers including Waters & Wild, Forgotten China, Holden Leathergoods and Filip Vanas.

In our men's Christmas gift edit we featured the work of many Design Ireland brands including the  CANVAS SATCHEL by The Atlantic Equipment Project, the QUICK DRAW LEATHER WALLET (with the option of free personalisation) by CarveOn, the LEATHER LAPTOP BACKPACK in chestnut by Holden Leathergoods and the WILD PRIVET BLACK LINEN BOW TIE by Bonagrew.

This month Brendan Madden of the Brendan Joseph label opened a pop-up store and studio just off Grafton Street on Dublin's South Anne Street. Brendan is currently there to meet customers and to customise items from his collection for clients.

We featured the Rain candle by FIELD APOTHECARY. Handmade in soya wax and presented in an elegant smoky glass jar, the candle costs €35.

This month we also celebrated leather designer and artist RÓISÍN GARTLAND’S thirty years working in leather. Róisín creates garments such as lambskin gilets, stretch leather trousers and tops and hooded lambskin jackets that are warm and functional yet look and feel beautiful. 

Working for a consistent list of private clients has been key to the success of Róisín's business for the past three decades. Her clothing also retails in the high-end HAVANA BOUTIQUE IN DUBLIN - well known among style mavens - and in GRANNY’S BOTTOM DRAWER IN KINSALE, CO. CORK.

In a selection of the very best homewares we featured the handmade wood and glass cloche by BTU Studio,  a handmade wooden wine rack by Caulfield Country Boards, the Festival scalloped glass bowl by Jerpoint Glass Studio and a selection of rugs and throws by John Hanley & Co. in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

Keeping with the gifting theme, we included the Futura Limited Edition Collection by Ansley Watch Co. which is limited to 100 pieces in four watch styles. Each of these unisex watches has a 42mm silver case with a white dial, black hour and minute hands and blue second date. These watches are assembled in Dublin and designed to appeal to lovers of classic, modern style.

In December we featured jewellery shop Stonechat in Dublin's Westbury Mall - the perfect destination for those looking for beautiful, handmade items of jewellery. Owner of Stonechat, Ann Chapman, also specialises in working with clients privately to produce bespoke items of jewellery including engagement and wedding rings as well as offering a jewellery remodelling service.
