In October we celebrated the new Autumn Winter 2018 fashion season with a look at some of the most coveted, on-trend pieces from our Irish fashion designers and makers. We leapt into AW18 with new pieces by Manley including the printed Mia dress, discovered the new collection by Dublin-based Natalie B Coleman and spoke prints with Debbie Millington’s new scarf designs. The Aran sweater has been spotted on the international catwalks and has become a design classic. We looked closer to home to Irelands Eye for top quality cable knit sweaters which are perfectly on-trend this season.

Continuing the trend, we spoke to Liadain Aiken about her beautiful, colourful Irish knitted sweaters and accessories for men, women and children. Liadain’s knits are made from the very best quality Donegal and Scottish yarns in her studio in Dublin and by knitters “cottage industry-style” countrywide. Her colour palette is carefully chosen and works beyond trends to result in a sustainable, well-made, beautiful product, which, if well looked after, should last a lifetime.

In October too we spoke to Ali Jones about her brand Bold Bunny and all its “joy-bringing papery goodness”. “Humorous, colourful and contemporary with a Scandi-twist”, Ali makes beautiful greeting cards and contemporary Irish prints which are characterised by her terrific sense of humour and her love of bright colours.

This season Ali has produced a range of prints inspired by her love of music and by the subjects of mental health and mindfulness. These elegant modern prints inspire the viewer to “Pause. Inhale. Exhale” or to “Record. Remember only the good things”. Ali will shortly launch her first ever planner calendar in time for 2019, as well as a range of charity Christmas cards supporting the charity Mental Health Ireland.
