Have you ever wanted to learn how to weave on a loom? Well this workshop will teach you foundational weaving skills on a 4-shaft loom. At the end of the workshop you will be able to take home the piece you have made during the class - whether a small scarf, tea towel or a napkin - it’s up to you! Join us for this 2 day workshop and create an amazing textile art, or very useful piece of fabric.
The class will cover:
Concept of weaving on a 4-shaft table loom.
Basic threading and lifting plans.
Design development.
Using different yarns and weaves to create textures.
Creating a finished piece of weaving based on your own samples.
The looms will be set up and ready to weave on so that you can get to grips with learning about different types of weave structures and yarns.
Each loom will have a different set-up and you will be able to try out weaving on each one so that you can get a feel for different yarns and structures.
Once you have sampled each loom, we will look back over what we have learned so far to help decide what types of products could be made from your samples.
The aim is to make a piece of textile art to take home with you based on your design development.
All yarns and equipment are provided and sustainably sourced.
